Do what scares you until it doesn't
I used to be afraid of walking on my own because 25 years ago I was touched up in a subway. The More than words challenge of "Fearless and Grunge" got me thinking about what i was afraid of and I thought 25 years is long enough to live with fear so I decided to just go and walk and deal with the consequences whatever they are. As i walked i thought about scrapping this story but did not have time in September to do so.
Never mind doing a lo the challenge was to change my life!
In reality the biggest thing likely to happen is that I will get fitter and do more of what I love to do even if there's no one to come with me. I'm 2 months into this mindset change and each time I do it it gets easier. It's not easy yet so I just have to keep doing it until it is.
As for the lo done now this is for the Kraft + Think Big challenge, clearly i did with my photo here. I used acrylic paints mixed with ultra thick embossing enamel mixed with various glossy glittery embossing powders and perfect pearls. To make the circles I applied paint to jar and bottle bottoms/lids and used them as stamps. Journalling is behid the photo.
Somewhat ironically i had to take my son with me on this walk so as to take this photograph for the lo!
Oh wow this layout looks amazing, love the texture above your photo and great quote too... and something big to over come too.. thanks for joining in with Kraft+ this month!
ReplyDeleteSuch a gorgeous inspirational page! I am so happy that our September More Than Words FEARLESS challenge was able to inspire you to get out and face your fear!! Thank you so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWow, such a powerful story and all the emotions! I feel blessed by reading your post and also I feel proud that we at More than Words were able to help you in your life journey! You are powerful! You are strong! You are loved! ❤️❤️❤️
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! I feel honoured (and a little bit scared!) that our challenge was able to turn your life around. As a woman who often walks in unfamiliar places by herself, I've found a few items can really help - a phone, something you can hit or scratch with (car keys are good), a very basic knowledge of self defence and a plan of what you might do if something happened. Remember that the good people in this world far outweigh the bad and enjoy your new-found freedom! xx
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that our Mood Board in September touched you so. I can totally relate to being crippled by fear and am so happy that you have undertaken this journey to change you life. You are strong and are in the process of reclaiming your life! Not many people can do that. Know in your heart that no one will ever make you feel that powerless again! Thank-you for sharing your story. It is good to know that we have an impact on people. I look forward to seeing more of you! Wishing you all the very best! <3
ReplyDeleteWow.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first started reading I thought there had been a mistake.
‘Oops.. she’s linked it to the wrong challenge’ I thought.
But as I read further I found myself inspired by your story.
I am so thrilled for you that you took the power back after all these years and how proud you must feel .. and your son to too.
Love that the MTW challenge helped you to take the steps (no pun intended) to conquer your fears and that the Kraft Plus challenge helped you document them .
Keep those shoulders back , stride out as you walk and be so very proud of you .
Thank you for playing along with K+ and for sharing your story .
