Nana

Last Weekend it was (Inter)national Scrapbooking day. I celebrated in style going away for the weekend to Scrap Camp at Pendleton Farmstay in the middle of nowhere; as far away from home as I have ever been in South Australia.
I had so much fun even though the accommodation was basic (in bunk houses) this increased my scrapping time as when I awoke at 5:20am there was no chance of getting back to sleep with the snoring chorus going on so both Saturday and Sunday morning I crept out the bunk house and into the scrap room to get a headstart!.
On Sunday morning before I went scrapping I walked outside in my Jammies dressing gown and slippers and watched the sun rise over the fields. As dawn broke layer by layer the creation was revealed to me, beautiful gum trees and a stunning view appearing through the hanging mist. The laughing kookaburas were loud and shrill and I was taken aback as to how different the "Australian Bush Dawn Chorus" is to the "English Garden Dawn Chorus."
The food was amazing home made proper nosh, even better I didn't have to cook any of it or do any cleaning up.

While away I started this lo using the remains of an old counterfeit kit that's so old I can't remember which one it was. I wanted to use circles for the My Creative Scrapbook Challenge so I used a whole strip of circle stickers then cut the "waste" from behind the stickers, mounted it onto brown background pp and punched smaller red circles to stick in each hole. I finished it having mind to complete the weekly UKS challenge to use white/green, bling, cord/twine/ribbon and stamping.
It is a photo of my Nana who passed away recently. I took this photo about 20 years ago seeking to photograph her "in her natural habitat" I'm glad I did, it shows her with china cups and saucers serving afternoon tea (her specialty in cakes), with crocheted blanket and sewing machine hidden behind the telephone table and other "Nanaisms" besides.

close up of the lace doily,
Nana used to crochet them by the bucket load!
close up of the jornalling inside a stamped journalling block

and a close up of the title block mounted on lace (very Nana-ish she used to make that too) although the lace i used was commercially made it was some she gave me many many many years ago!

  1. Great PPs and shapes for echoing the details in the photo. That sunrise & dawn chorus sounds brilliant - glad that the snoring WOKE you rather than stopped you sleeping like it does me!
